April Birthstone: Diamond

As the April birthstone, diamonds are the ideal gift for a loved one.   Diamonds were believed by the ancient Greeks to hold magical power. In fact, it was thought that they may be splinters of stars fallen to the earth, tears of the gods, or perhaps crystallized lightening. Diamonds were worn into battles by kings, as a symbol of strength and courage, and kept as talisman against poisoning and phantoms. A diamond is said to bring its owner wealth and happiness as well as protection. Diamonds range in color from completely colorless to hues of yellow, pink, red, blue, green and orange ranging in intensity from faint to intense. Generally found in either riverbeds or by kimberlight deposits diamonds are found primarily in South Africa, Australia, Russia, Canada and yes, even in the good old USA, in Arkansas.
